The community gardens of the Delta Centre have been designed with landscaping and sculpture for the use and enjoyment of all, including adults with learning difficulties. Gardens include a water and woodland garden, a sculpture garden, a heather and conifer garden, a musical garden and a formal rose garden amongst others.


The Ewe Sculpture Garden

The Ewe is both a sculpture garden and a nature project created by artist Sheena Wood, which opened to the public in 2006. Sculpture is sited around the lush woodlands of the artist's family home and these grounds are divided into 4 impressive gardens; The Falling Water Garden, The Timeless Glen, The Environmental Forest and The Valley of Eden. The sculptures are both abstract and figurative, in stone, metal, wood and glass.

The Ewe is open every day in The Summer from 10am to 6pm. Spring and Autumn by appointment.


Leighlinbridge: The Garden Village: The Sculpture Garden

Set within the garden village of Leighlinbridge, The Sculpture Garden was built and designed by the local community, dedicated to three of Leighlinbridge’s past residents – Cardinal Patrick Francis Moran, John Tyndall, the mountaineer and scientist and Captain Myles Keogh, second in command to General Custer.

Several pieces of contemporary sculpture have been installed in the garden of this impressive 12th Century castle. Artists include Antony Gormley, David Nash, Eilís O’Connell, and Bridget McCrum. The West Wing of the Castle has been redeveloped as Lismore Castle Arts, a gallery for contemporary art, which runs a dynamic programme of exhibitions.

The gardens and gallery are open from 11.00 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. daily from 17th March until 30th September. Admission is charged.


Lough Boora Parklands: Sculpture in the Parklands

Large scale outdoor sculptures have been created with stones, timber and other found objects in the unique 50 acre bog-land setting of the Lough Boora Parklands. The permanent collection includes works of art by Michael Bulfin, Jorn Ronnau (Denmark), Patrick Dougherty (USA), Eileen MacDonagh, Naomi Seki (Japan), Johan Seitzema (Holland), Maurice MacDonagh, Marianne Jorgensen (Denmark), Marian O'Donnell, Caelan Bristow, Caroline Madden, David Kinane, Martina Galvin and Kevin O'Dwyer.

Temporary and permanent works have been commissioned since an international sculpture symposium in 2002. Sculpture in the Parklands has worked in partnership with Bord na Mona, Lough Boora Parklands Group, Offaly County Council and the Arts Council in the development of this unique sculpture park. The sculpture park received the prestigious Business2Arts award in 2003 and 2009 as well as the Best Art/Sculpture Award at the Local Government, City and Council Awards (LAMA) ceremony in 2007.


The North Mayo Sculpture Trail: TirSaile

A sculpture trail of fourteen site specific artworks was created along the rugged coastline of North Mayo soon after the discovery of a Neolithic site stone work at Ceide Fields, north of Mayo in 1993. The trail commemorates the imprint of man left over 50 centuries ago.

In 1996 the first sculpture was installed in this new sculpture park set within 600 acres provided by Coillte Forest in the Devil's Glen in Ashford, 50 miles southeast of Dublin. The mission of the park was to provide artists with the resources and support necessary to create works of creative excellence in a natural environment. And to provide cultural, social and economic benefits to the community. The work of over 20 Irish and international sculptors can be seen on the grounds by following well marked nature trails.
