Based in Somerset West, South Africa, Art Creations Africa is a gallery and sculpture garden displaying Zimbabwean stone sculptures known as “Shona Sculpture”. The gallery and sculpture garden opened in its new location in 2008, and the organisation has been running since 1988. Art Creations Africa has grown to become a renowned international exporter of African hard stone sculptures from Zimbabwe.

Works on display change regularly and include first generation to emerging generation artists, such as Colleen Madamombe, Claud Nyanhongo and Nicholas Mukomberanwa. 

Open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm, and Saturdays by appointment.

Dedicated to the display and promotion of Zimbabwe Stone Sculpture (Shona Sculpture), this 20 acre sculpture park boasts the largest collection of this work in the world. Founded in 1970 as African Art Promotions Inc.

Roy Guthrie, Founder of this Sculpture Park, also established a Chapungu Sculpture Park in Loveland, Colorado, USA in 2007.

On March 26, 2011 Graham’s Fine Art Gallery launched the Mark Swart Sculpture Garden, which features works by the South African artist Mark Swart. The sculpture garden is designed with the goal to draw the public’s attention toward the environment. The garden will display a number of sculptures crafted from recycled materials alongside Swart’s work to further inform the public of environmental sustainability.

The sculptures in the Mark Swart Sculpture Garden are available for purchase, and when pieces are acquired they will be replaced with new sculpture, altering the artistic landscape throughout the year. Drawing a parallel to nature, Graham’s Fine Art Gallery will change exhibitions to coincide with the changing of seasons.

Set against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, the park is situated on 528 hectares. The park, founded in 1913, only grows indigenous South African Plants. Recently they have added a sculpture trail devoted to African sculptures with emphasis on Zimbabwean art.


NIROX Foundation Sculpture Park

NIROX is a private art foundation set in 40 acres of an extensive nature reserve in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, South Africa. Dedicated to “advance Africa’s place in the global contemporary arts”, NIROX consists of an art museum, residency program and a sculpture park.

The sculpture park is located throughout the expansive grounds of the NIROX foundation. The outdoor exhibitions change every few months, showing both group shows and solo exhibitions by South African artists, including works by sculptor Enric Pladevall.


Oliewenhuis Art Museum Sculpture Park

The Oliewenhuis Art Museum is based in the former residence of the Governor General of the Union of South Africa, converted in 1985 to display a collection of South African works and host temporary exhibitions. The sculpture park on the grounds of the museum opened in 2004, presenting permanent works by 11 South African artists. In addition to the works in the sculpture park, a series of cement and mosaic sculptures have been created for the gardens of the museum.

Open Mondays to Fridays 8.00am-5.00pm, Saturdays 10.00am-5.00pm and Sundays 1.00pm-5.00pm. Admission is free.
