Federal Census Bureau Building

Artist Anita Glesta has created ‘Census’, a permanent outdoor integrated landscape sculpture for the Federal Census Bureau Building, commissioned by the General Services Administration Excellence in Art and Architecture program. The commission was awarded in 2003 and was completed in 2008. Taking the theme of the census as her motivation for the installation, the 7 acre landscape work includes a winding path and a series of reliefs that disrupt concepts of order and categorization associated with counting. As an established artist in the public realm, Glesta has worked on several large-scale international projects. Among these projects is the three-acre Yurong Water Gardens in the centre of downtown Sydney, Australia, which was completed in 2000.

Over 35 sculptures on display at Wurtzburger and Levi Sculpture Gardens. Artists include Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Mark di Suvero, George Rickey, and Alexander Calder.
Admission to the BMA’s Sculpture Gardens is free of charge. The gardens are open during Museum hours (11 am – 5 pm from Wednesday to Friday and 11 am – 6 pm on weekends).
