Located close to several ancient Maya sites is the Poustinia environmental art project, a 60 acre park within 270 acres of rainforest with trails and earth art sculptures. Architect Luiz Alberto Ruiz founded the park and established The Poustinia Foundation, a non-profit organization, in 1997. Most of the artists who have work situated in the park are from Europe, the Caribbean and South America and responds directly to the natural environment of the park. Overnight cabins and a homestead are available for overnight stays for groups and for resident artists. It is open to the public by appointment only.

Entrance fee for adults, children under 16 years of age free of charge. Art tours are available at an additional fee. Tickets purchased at Benque Viejo House of Culture, #64 St. Joseph Street, Benque Viejo Del Carmen (Tel: (+11) 501 823 2697)
