The mission of the Aldrich Museum is the exhibition of significant and challenging contemporary art, and being one of the few non-collecting museums in USA it develops changing exhibitions of emerging and mid-career artists. The museum’s expansion and renovation in 2004 has seen a new sculpture park installed called The Cornish Family Sculpture Garden. The art on display is carefully selected, and placement is carefully planned.

The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 12 till 5pm. Admission fee applies.

Connecticut based sculptor David Hayes studied with artist David Smith at University of Indiana. Fifteen acres of his "Sculpture Fields" contain over 200 steel sculptures that date from the 1950s to the present time. Sculptures of interesting shapes and bright colours are displayed amongst wild flowers, ferns and roses.

Seaside Park

This 325 acre park was designed Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmstead, is now home to over 40 outdoor large scale contemporary sculptures. Sculptures in the park include work by Peter Lundberg, Claes Hake, Harry Gordon and Susan Griswold. Also in Bridgeport at Russo Park are a small Mark di Suvero, and others by John Clement and Joel Graesser.

One of Noguchi's best known outdoor works, this sunken courtyard consists of a marble standing cube, a circle standing on edge and a pyramid, all in white marble. All elements are slightly off balance and deliberately imperfect, creating a stunning subtle Zen-like effect.
