Sexual Inversion (volume 2 of Studies in the Psychology of Sex), from which this brief extract is taken, was the first English medical text book to suggest that homosexuality was neither a disease nor a crime. Other Ellis also suggested psychologically important concepts, including autoerotism and narcissism, later developed by Freud.
