Guglielmo Ferrero (1871-1942)

Guglielmo Ferrero was born near Naples in 1871. He was first Lombroso’s student and then his son-in-law. Although a historian by profession, Ferrero was also interested in psychology and sociology. He was exiled in 1930 because of his trenchant criticism of Mussolini’s Fascist regime, and took up a position at the University of Geneva. His other works include: Europe Giovanne (The European Young Person) (1897), and The Greatness and Decline of Rome (5 vols., 1902-1907; English trans., 1907-1909).
