Paty do Alferes,
Rio de Janeiro

At an elevation of 2,000 feet, this 40 acre sculpture park was a former century-old coffee plantation, 70 miles from downtown Rio de Janeiro. The tropical sculpture park is the creation of Brazilian sculptor Gabriel Fonseca who studied and worked as an engineer before he retired and developed his artistic practice.

Much of Fonseca’s work is influenced by his interest in orchids and other tropical flowers. There is some work on display by other Brazilian sculptors, but the large scale outdoor sculptures are the work of Gabriel.

Visits are by appointment only. There is an online contact form on the website: http://www.gabrielsculptor.com/contact/index.php.
