Funding Advice Service

  • For in-depth advice and guidance on whether you qualify for financial support
  • Student Loans
  • College bursaries, fee reductions or additional assistance

Academic Skills/Learning Development

  • Workshops and lectures throughout the year.
  • Available to enrolled students only.
  • Series of on-line tutorials – each around 15-20 minutes. Open to all.
  • Covers a range of areas and some subject-specific tutorials

My Birkbeck Student Centre and University Square Stratford Helpdesk

  • First point of contact for a range of administrative issues.
  • Signpost to specialist advice where necessary.
  • Assist with enrolments, Id cards, various letters.
  • Support for self-service.
  • Drop off point for administrative documents not coursework (Central London but not Stratford).

Careers & Employability Service

  • Events and information services for current students and alumni
  • Resources on managing your career.
  • Access to internships and jobs.
  • Resources on starting your own business and student enterprise.

Wellbeing Services (part of Student Services):

Counselling Service

  • Confidential service to talk about personal issues that impact upon studies or overall experience at university.
  • 50 minute initial assessment, from there a range of services may be offered including One off Consultations, Individual Brief Focused Counselling, Referrals to Specialist Services, Psycho- educational Workshops and Self-help Resources
  • Telephone or email for appointments.

Disability & Dyslexia Service

  • Disability & Dyslexia Service – starting point to ensure support.
  • Provide advice on specific adjustments that need to be made in classes, seminars and with coursework
  • Disability Support in the Library and IT Services
  • Specialist equipment and software
  • Exam support
  • Disability learning support and training
  • Help with applications for Disabled Student Allowance (DSA)

Mental Health

  • Arranges Mental Health Mentoring
  • Advice to staff on dealing with students with (suspected) mental health problems
