Professor José María Álvarez Monzoncillo

This lecture will focus on the current situation of the Spanish film industry. It will discuss the level of production and the situation of production companies, including the system of promotion and protection of Spanish cinema and the situation of the distribution. In addition, it will analyse the supply and consumption of films (theatrical, TV, video, and Internet). Finally, Professor José María Álvarez Monzoncillo will consider the model of financing and structural problems of Spanish cinema.

José María Álvarez Monzoncillo is Professor of Audiovisual Communications at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. He is currently Vice Rector for European Harmonisation and Convergence at that University and Director of the International Doctorate School of the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid (www.alvarezmonzoncillo.com).
