These screenings were organized by the Embassy of Mozambique in collaboration with CILAVS to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the independence of Mozambique.

Programme

2.30pm –  Silêncio da Mulher (Mozambique/Spain, 2008, Gabriel Mondlane, 45min)

A movie that provokes a debate and takes someone to rethink. Set in southern rural area of Mozambique, it deals with critical subjects concerning human reproduction, HIV / AIDS, gender relations and kinship. This is the story of Marta, a young woman who discovers that she is HIV positive after becoming pregnant.

3.30pmTatana (Mozambique, 2005, Joao Ribeiro, 14min)

A young boy’s grandmother has the power to speak with her deceased children. The boy embarks on a initiatic voyage where he confronts his dead father and through him learns to keep alive the testimony of the deceased.

4.00pmAfrica’s Lost Eden (Mozambique, 2010,  James Byrne, 50min)

A National Geographical travel documentary on Gorongosa National Park, a conservation area recovering itself, as its missing may mean a human soul loose. Africa’s Lost Eden won prestigious prizes world wide and more than that it takes someone to rediscover how the world is really beautiful and enigmatic.
